There are several opportunities for clinical training in the Penn FTD Center across various stages of career development.
Clinical fellows with MD or PhD training can have additional focused experience with young-onset dementias within the FTD-spectrum. This work has the practical consequence of improving diagnostic accuracy, helping with longitudinal monitoring of progression, and aiding in prognosis. This is generally implemented in the context of a clinical research question to compliment the clinical experience.
Pre-doctoral PhD students and resident trainees can have supervised exposure to young-onset dementing conditions, while engaging in research training.
With the approval of the home program and University of Pennsylvania, medical students can rotate through the FTD Center to learn basic and advanced techniques of the neurological and cognitive exam.
